INTERCOM SYSTEMS – keeping you linked

The safety and security of our Homes and businesses presents an every increasing concern for all concerned and we are spending thousands trying to create a safe environment in which to live and work, and intercom systems can help in identifying visitors and deciding whether we want to allow them in or not.

For ordinary people whose business isn’t security, it can be a daunting experience trying to decide which communication system to go for. What product should one select? Should it be a door intercom system or a room-to room intercom?

A video intercom system is so convenient to use but also designed to provide an additional source of security and is good for business or commercial premises where access control is a concern. Some of these systems have cameras for extra security and with such a system you can safely identify visitors before answering. Once your visitor has rung the bell, live audio and video has already been transmitted to the monitor for you to see, and its at that point that you have the choice to speak with one touch of a button. With a built in picture memory function, each picture is time stamped to let you know who was there when you were out. Telephone intercom systems allow users to answer a door or gate from any telephone in the Home or business.

For flat dwellers the telephone intercom system gives every resident the ability to forward calls from visitors arriving at the entrance to any remote off-premises phone number, so residents can even know who called when they were away at work. They can also remotely open the door from the remote phone to let whoever it is in. This telephone entry system offers great security services to residents in flats because it provides and alarm for the door entry of each unit in the complex. In case of a break-in the door entry system will dial out to a surveillance phone number for that particular unit.

Should you require information on an intercom system, Tandem Security Systems aim is to provide the best security systems, products and workmanship.

INTERCOM SECURITY SYSTEMS allow us to assess a problem, undetected
Intercom security systems, now more advanced than ever, are a wonderful safety feature for homes and businesses, because they allow you to actually see and communicate with visitors at the door before you decide whether you want to open to them or not.

By integrating intercom security systems, a business can reduce the cost of employing several security guards. Sound detection intercoms allow just one or two guards to unobtrusively monitor areas for unexpected sounds. Random audio monitoring and automatic sound detection can significantly raise a business’s security level.

Intercom systems, mostly incorporated at entry doors or gate areas and properly data-integrated with intrusion alarms and access control equipment, allow us to assess situations, evaluate problems and react.. Voice also adds another means of verification and two-way communication can assist an employee for instance who has forgotten an access card..

Residential buildings such as apartments and town house complexes also use intercoms to protect tenants and visitors, and main entrances can be monitored by one security room when the intercoms are integrated with a CCTV system. It requires just one guard to watch and control access to the front door where residents and visitors enter.

Intercom security systems cater for all access applications, from standard to sophisticated digital audio and video entrance systems for larger applications. Choosing professional and high quality products is absolutely vital – it’s peoples lives that security systems are protecting more than ever these days in South Africa.

The goal of any effective security system is to reduce theft and save lives. Protecting you is what we do best at Tandem – and our state-of-the-art home and business intercom security systems have been formulated after much research, and have been selected for each client based on their efficient functionality and sturdy simplicity.

INTERCOM SECURITY SYSTEMS IN SOUTH AFRICA – a figurative gate
Communication to your gate is essential for total security and convenience, and intercom security systems in South Africa provide controlled and supervised access at any entrance and at exit points. Stand-alone intercoms and telephone entry, black and white video and other types can all be seen as the figurative gate between the visitor and the destination, and puts the onus on the person in the Home or office to decide whether to allow entry or not.

Tandem Security provides a wide range of intercom systems that cater for all access applications, from standard, right up to sophisticated digital audio and video entrance systems for larger applications. The risk of a house invasion by thugs should act as a warning for all, it is absolutely vital to be able to identify the person that shows up at one’s door. Intercom security systems in South Africa aren’t limited to the door entry alone though, but will permit many more applications than the regular entry door function. An intercom system will allow you to communicate to all or each station strategically placed in different rooms or offices.

Many intercom security systems in South Africa require dedicated wiring from room to room in order to work properly. You see these systems commonly in businesses and in Homes with built in security systems.

Attractive entrance stations with easy backlit push buttons are designed and engineered to be totally weatherproof, able to cope with any severe weather conditions. Additionally, gate access control is also manageable by the programming of certain entry codes you can give out to specific individuals. When mobile, the interior intercom can be used to open the gate from anywhere in the house.

If friends or colleagues call and find you out or unavailable, intercom security systems in South Africa are designed for such situations; allowing your visitors to automatically leave a recorded message that you can playback on your return.

GATE INTERCOM – frontline security

Danger lurks everywhere and opening the front door can be a scary experience these days, not only because lunatics abound, but there are some milder irritants that you would prefer to not have to communicate with, and a gate intercom system will enable you to see that your family is safe inside and unwanted elements remain at a distance. Although the gate is probably the worst tactical point of entry a burglar could choose, because it is usually located at the front of the house, which is, more often than not well lit, it is still approached boldly by brazen intruders.

A gate intercom will allow you to have a whole conversation with anyone who comes to the gate, from the security of anywhere in the house, and if yours is equipped with video cameras, you can see who you are talking to as well. This can be very useful for suspicious looking characters, or just simply ignoring unwanted callers.

The humble gate intercom has come a long way in recent years and is no longer limited to the simple front-door-unit and control panel. More and more features are being added, and as a result the convenience and security that they offer the Home owner has increased enormously. Intercoms are now becoming commonplace in residential Homes as they become more affordable, and with a wireless system, easily installed into an existing Home. With the use of a gate intercom system you can view who is at your door before deciding to let them in. If the visitor is not someone you fancy, you can find out the reason for their visit before opening the door.

A gate intercom can also be used for surveillance recording which is handy if you are going to be away from your Home for a period of time. Tandem Security, with their expert workmanship and quality products will ensure that your Home is protected whether you are there or not.

PROPERTY INTERCOM SYSTEMS – a figurative gate between you and your visitor

Property automation is the way forward for security, and property intercom systems certainly act as a figurative gate between visitors and the home or business, providing the communication avenue that allows the access to be directly controlled by the occupant. Everyone will agree that today it is imperative to have controlled and supervised access at all entrance and exit points.

m are far more effective than a door or gate, as they create distance between you and the person on the other side of the door. The intercom system also lets you know who is standing out there before you even open your door. You can also question the reason for the visit while remaining unseen at a safe distance.

Audio only systems – the most basic intercoms, ideal for those who are comfortable with screening visitors only by voice. The visitor pushes and holds the talk button to get the attention of someone inside. Others can allow two way simultaneous conversations just like on a phone. Easy to install, the audio only systems can be wired in or wireless.
Video security intercoms – with both mono and colour options available, provide video feed to allow the owner to both see and talk to visitors. Visitors can be discretely viewed before opening or sending them away. Video feeds are activated by motion sensors or by a visitor pressing the door bell and transmitted to a receiver. Some models can take date and time printed pictures and record video clips of each visit so the owner can archive them for future reference.
Property intercom systems can also be programmed to unlock certain gates at specific times each week. With evolving technology, it is becoming increasingly simple to control your property intercom systems, and external intercom units are constructed of extremely sturdy and durable material making them virtually vandal proof

REMOTE CONTROL GATE – activation from a distance

When you are thinking about getting a remote control gate, you are essentially investing in the security of your house, but to maximize your investment, there are a few things to think about when you are deciding what gate to get as well as to consider what options you want for the automatic opening of your gate. Your remote control gate is a vital tool towards securing your possessions and loved ones, and it is therefore imperative to consult with professionals like Tandem Security as you can never be too safe.

The automatic gate concept, ever increasing in popularity, is becoming a necessary feature to secure your Home or business, and you can literally choose amongst a wide variety of access control systems for your gate, like intercoms, touch keypads, CCTV surveillance systems, access card entry and radio controls as well as solar power openers to name a few. You can also take advantage of your computer, using it to operate the movements of your gate.

Nobody in a torrential downpour wants to have to get out of the car to fiddle around with the likes of trying to find the right key to open driveway gates while prospective high-jackers lurk around; a remote control gate offers the solution to not having to get out of your car, as there are controls suitable for residential gates, game reserve fence gates, commercial and industrial gates; regardless of the type of fence gate you have, whether it be residential chain link gates, tube gates, wrought iron gates or wooden gates. One must just bear in mind that a remote controlled gate is a large moving machine that needs to be treated with respect because if your gate system is not cared for it could let you down, or worse still become a danger to you or others!

Tandem Security has a broad range of experience and knowledge in all aspects of installation and performance of remote control gates which comes from understanding the importance of securing what is yours.

BATTERY OPERATED GATE MOTOR – convenience and safety is what its about

Tired of stopping your vehicle and manually opening and closing your gate every time you leave or come Home to discover there has been a power failure in your absence? Tired of constantly being a target for criminals scoring from your closed and silent gate? By making sure you have a battery operated gate motor, you can continue to enjoy controlling your gate from the safety of your vehicle!

Working during power failures
The battery operated gate motor, which is charged with a transformer, will even work during power cuts, providing power for several opening and closing cycles before needing a recharge and is suitable for single or double gate opening systems.

Will a battery operated gate opener work on any gate?
Battery motors are designed to fit on most types of gates – swing, sliding, farm, domestic and industrial. Automation typically includes a gate opener and a remote control but additional devices such as a backup battery and intercom are there to complete the usability of your gate. Most power failures are no longer due entirely to a storm, load shedding means that you are likely to be caught off-guard more often than not, so the whole idea of automating your gate is missed if you need to get out of your car during a power cut to manually operate the gate. A battery operated gate motor is an affordable solution for stormy or treacherous nights. Although all gate automation units have a manual override key, a back-up battery is recommended if the automated gate is the only access to your premises.

Benefits of back-up battery operated gate motors

The are quiet and don’t not make a noise like generators.
The switch over automatically when the power goes off.
Gives you enough hours of power till electricity is restored.
Recharges automatically when the power comes back on.
Whether its commercial, industrial or private, a battery operated gate opener from Tandem Security will ensure that life continues pretty much uninterrupted. Don’t be caught off guard, Tandem’ expert workmanship will ensure a smooth transition.

SLIDING GATE SECURITY IN SOUTH AFRICA – a strong and visible defense
Sliding gate security in South Africa is used when it is not possible to close a set of gates in the conventional swing way; in fact sliding gates have been borne out of the necessity to economize space and to save time and energy, but while they provide this convenience, they certainly do not compromise on security and safety. Steel sliding gates don’t have to be industrial looking, beautiful designs can look attractive and still perform an excellent security service.

Sliding gate security in South Africa includes a rack and pinion drive that eliminates the greasier, noisier, and less secure chain drive slide gates used in the past.

It is at the driveway entrance particularly that a sliding gate with remote control is imperative, striking uncertainty in the intruder’s heart. He is simply put off put off by your visible defenses, judging them by their speed as well as their sturdiness. With this visible safeguard coupled with an efficient monitoring system he will in all likelihood just slink away.

As part of the maintenance of the sliding gate as well as the operator, it should be checked and tested regularly; failure to do so will ultimately increase the risk of intruder entry. Sliding gate security in South Africa provides quality well-constructed gates designed to meet every requirement and all tastes; particularly useful for driveways that slope upwards, where a swing gate couldn’t cope.

Unless you are a handyman, and able to install the gate yourself, your first step in securing your Home is to choose a trusty installer from an established company like Tandem Security who can not only supply excellent references, but they are continuously updating sliding gate security in South Africa to meet customers requirements and to foil brazen attempts by intruders learning new tricks to enter. http://www.tandemsecurity.co.za/contact.html

CARD READERS – reading credentials
Most mainstream entry systems use some form of plastic ID card or badge because they
are easy to carry and use; and card readers, while they resist vandalism and abuse, one single motion through the card slot will read your card. The readers recognize millions of unique codes. Using a card access system, only the card holder can gain entrance. The card readers grant or deny access at the door and keep a permanent record of who went through the door, whether it was held open or forced open and whether unauthorized persons attempted to use their cards to gain access to an area.

Card readers at building entrances will display either a red or green light, indicating door status.
To gain access to a locked building, place your card over the reader. Flashing green and red means access is granted, and the door will unlock. A green flash followed by solid red means a valid card is read, but access is denied.

What is card access?

A card access system uses card readers to read a unique electronic signature. It then sends this signature to a computer for verification and once verified, a signal is sent to the locking device to allow entry for a given period of time. After this period of time is over, the device secures the door. Despite their small size, card readers have a LCD to display messages, providing the system users with immediate plain text descriptions of events such as “Access Denied”!

There are many types of access cards available – magnetic stripe, bar code, etc.. Smart cards can store both the user’s ID number and hand geometry template on the card. Smart cards are the latest development in card technology.

Having card readers installed and serviced by Tandem Security ensures complete control over any building and the people who enter it. We have been installing access control and security systems in Gauteng for years with hundreds of thrilled clients.
